Shepheard's Hotel Cairo was a historic luxury hotel in Cairo, Egypt. It was established in 1841 and was initially named the 'Hotel des Bains'.
The hotel was famous for its luxurious accommodations, excellent cuisine, and personalized service. It was a popular destination for wealthy travelers, diplomats, and celebrities throughout its history.
The hotel was located in the heart of Cairo and had 270 rooms and suites, all of which were elegantly furnished and equipped with modern amenities. It also had several restaurants and bars, a large swimming pool, a gym, and a spa.
The hotel had a long and rich history and was witness to many important events, including the signing of the Treaty of Balta Liman between Egypt and France in 1838, and the British occupation of Egypt in 1882.
In 1952, the hotel was nationalized by the Egyptian government, and it was subsequently renamed the Hotel du Nil. It continued to operate until 1956, when it was destroyed in a fire. The hotel was never rebuilt, and the site is now occupied by the modern Shepheard Hotel.
